HC Deb 14 March 1988 vol 129 c455W
Mr. Nicholas Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the number of Government offices and the number of staff employed in them, excluding military personnel in (i) Pembrokeshire, (ii) Dyfed and (iii) Wales.

Mr. Chope

The numbers and total areas of Government offices in the locations to which the hon. Gentleman refers are as follows:

Numbers Area
(a) Pembrokeshire 22 (8,393m2)
(b) Dyfed 67 (31,732m2)
(c) Wales 386 (414,000m2)

These figures do not include military establishments and it will be appreciated that offices vary significantly in size and can be occupied by more than one Government Department.

Records of staff numbers in these areas are not held centrally either by the Welsh Office or PSA and to obtain them would entail disproportionate costs.
