Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will visit the county of Clwyd to meet full time and retained firemen to discuss current and proposed manning levels; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will visit Buckley and Queensferry fire stations; and if he will make a statement;

(3) whether he has recently visited the county of Clwyd fire service headquarters and fire stations in Clwyd; and if he will make a statement;

(4) what is the authorised establishment of the Clwyd fire service; how many officers are currently in post; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

My right hon. Friend has not recently visited the Clwyd fire service and has no present plans to do so. The whole time firefighter establishment of the Clwyd fire brigade at 1 January 1988 was 197 and the retained establishment was 240. Staff actually in post were 184 and 227, respectively.
