§ Mrs. RumboldIn 1958, education's share of total authority spending in the United Kingdom was 41.4 per cent. In 1986, it was 41.8 per cent. The comparison is based on calendar year figures representing recurrent and capital spending excluding debt interest and an imputed charge for capital consumption.
