Telephone Exchange for the Deaf

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the answer of 19 February,Official Report column 784, what options are being considered for the long-term arrangements for providing the telephone exchange for the deaf; and if he will make a statement.

Discussions are in train involving the Royal National Institute for the Deaf, British Telecom and Government Departments about setting up a research study which will address a wide range of options.
