To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what were the numbers of disciplinary cases concerning dental services in the years 1982 to 1986 in relation to(a) the number resolved without an oral hearing, (b) the number resolved with an oral hearing, (c) the number, after an oral hearing, where the contractor

(2) what have been the percentage increases in National Health Service staff pay levels for the following groups (a) doctors and dentists, (b) nurses, midwives and health visitors, (c) professions allied to medicine, (d) administrative and clerical staff, and (e) ancillary staff, since (i) 1979–80, and (ii) 1980–81, up to the latest year for which figures are available; and what have been the increases in the retail price index over the same periods.

Comparable information about average pay levels over the periods requested is not available. The table gives details of increases in rates of pay. The extent by which basic rates are enhanced by additional earnings varies between staff groups and is substantial in the case of ancillary staff.
