To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what was the value of United Kingdom(a) exports and (b) imports of confectionery in the last year for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement.

In 1987 exports of confectionery goods were valued at £405 million and imports £330 million.
