HC Deb 08 March 1988 vol 129 c119W
Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what discussions he is having with the industries concerned in order to bring about an urgent voluntary agreement to ban substances and activities likely to damage the ozone layer.

Mr. Moynihan

Officials in the Departments of the Environment and of Trade and Industry hold regular meetings with representatives of British industry on implementing the Montreal protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer. These meetings enable producers and users of chlorofluorocarbons and halons to report their plans for reducing the emissions of these chemicals and for switching to environmentally safe substitutes.
