To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many housing condition surveys have been completed in Northern Ireland since 1970; what has been the cost of each at 1988 prices; and when he expects the next survey to be carried out.

[holding answer 7 March 1988]: There have been three major surveys carried out since 1970, in 1974, 1979 and 1984. The Housing Executive is also working on a mini house condition survey for 1987, which is a mid-term analysis survey. The results are due in report form by the end of 1988. Details of the costs are as follows:
