HC Deb 08 March 1988 vol 129 c155W
Mr. Pike

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether his Department has any proposals to legislate for improved heavy vehicle spray guards.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Regulations introduced in 1984 require spray reducing devices on new British registered heavy lorries and existing heavy trailers. The devices must comply with British Standard BS AU 200. The European Commission has made proposals on similar lines, but there is no early prospect of these being adopted by the Council of Ministers.
