HC Deb 08 March 1988 vol 129 c155W
Mr. Michael Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what indications he has received from British Rail as to when it is likely to come forward with proposals for the construction of a high speed railway line across Kent to link London and other British cities with the continental rail network after the Channel tunnel is built.

Mr. Channon

I have asked British Rail to let me have a report by 1 June 1988 on the options for increasing the capacity of its rail network between London and the tunnel once the capacity of the existing network is exhausted. It will be considering all possible options, including a new high-speed line.
