HC Deb 08 March 1988 vol 129 cc132-3W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many subject access requests under the terms of the Data Protection Act his Department has received; what was his estimate of this number; whether he is reconsidering the subject access fee charged by his Department as a result; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Sainsbury

A total of 2,317 subject access requests have been received by the major pay and personnel database centres in the Ministry of Defence; all were from current, past or potential employees. The figures so far are considered to be roughly in line with the forecast of between 0.01 per cent. and 0.1 per cent. of the target population per annum. The subject access fee charged has not been reconsidered at this time.
