§ Mr. HeddleTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on the extent and impact of the proposals contained in the European Commission's White Paper, "Europe without frontiers; Towards a Large Internal Market", in-so-far as his Department is concerned.
§ Mr. Alan ClarkProposals contained in the European Commission's White Paper "Completing the Internal Market, 1985," cover a wide spectrum of economic activity. Areas of interest to my Department include the elimination of physical and technical barriers to the free 641W movement of goods; the liberalisation of trade in service; and the removal of various restrictions on freedom of establishment for the professions.
Removal of trade barriers will improve access to a market of 320 million people, encourage the growth of trade with other Member States, further improve economic efficiency and reduce costs to business.
