HL Deb 02 March 1988 vol 494 cc271-2WA
Lord Mottistone

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is the Government's intention that the reconstituted standing advisory committees currently dealing with patents and trade marks respectively should have as their major remit the responsibility to review annually the different areas of intellectual property law with a view to recommending necessary legislative changes.

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (Lord Young of Graffham)

The standing advisory committees are currently being reviewed so as to ensure that they fully represent the views of British industry and commerce. The Government will continue to look to them for advice on patent, design and trade mark issues as and when these arise.
