HC Deb 02 March 1988 vol 128 cc571-2W
Mr. David Porter

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement about his Department's facilities serving East Anglian businesses.

Mr. Atkins

All the Department's national services are of course available to business in East Anglia. The Department's south-east regional office is responsible for maintaining day-to-day contact with East Anglian business, and in particular for ensuring that the region's industry and commerce are able to take full advantage of the enterprise initiative.

To ensure close contact with its East Anglia customers, the Department will in the spring be opening a new area office at Cambridge. This office, supported by recently appointed local representatives in Norwich and Chelmsford, will play a leading role in promoting and ensuring the effective application within East Anglia of the policies set out in Cm. 278.
