To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on his visit to Sweden.

Mr. Fowler

I visited Sweden from 22 to 24 November last year, at the invitation of the Swedish Government, in order to study employment and training policies and programmes in that country. During my visit I met representatives of the Swedish Government and industry with responsibilities in these areas. I was also able to see, at first hand, something of the operation of policy both at Government training and employment centres and within private industry.
