HL Deb 29 June 1988 vol 498 c1696WA
The Earl of Kimberley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether in conformity with current public expenditure restraints, and in view of the current sizeable expenditure (1.2 million) per annum on salmon fishery research, all salmon research establishments to be maintained under tight and clearly specified annual budgetary requirements and restraints; and whether they propose to make such annual budgets publicly available.

Lord Sanderson of Bowden

My department's Freshwater Fisheries Laboratory is not an exception to the conditions governing public expenditure. There are no proposals to change the existing arrangements for making available details of the annual budgets which were specified in the Answer I gave on 11th April 1988 (Official Report vol. 495, No. 108, Col. 963).
