asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many appeals against refusal of listed building consent, and in which cases, have been allowed by the Secretary of State for the Environment in the last five years:—

  1. (a) in accordance with the advice of his inspector; and
  2. (b) against the advice of his inspector; and in the cases under (b) what advice he obtained, and who from, which led him to disregard the inspector's advice.
