Paediatric Occupational Therapists

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps have been taken by his Department to deal with the shortage of paediatric occupational therapists.

Mr. Newton

The joint DHSS/NHS manpower planning advisory group has commissioned a study to look at future staffing and skill mix in occupational therapy.

The project does not single out paediatric occupational therapists as a particular group but will cover the profession as a whole.

Preliminary results will be available in late 1989.
