To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement about the training of head teachers.

My right hon. Friend recognises the importance of systematic and well-targeted training for senior teachers with a management responsibility. He proposes in 1989–90 to extend the national priority area covering management training within the LEA training grants scheme and he is now setting up a new task force on the management training of heads.
