HC Deb 21 June 1988 vol 135 c498W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will take steps to release extra funds to Clwyd area health authority to enable CAT scanners to be more widely available to the people of north Wales; and if he will make a statement;

(2) where CAT scanners currently operate in north Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Grist

Computerised tomography scanners are presently in operation at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Maelor Wrexham. Funds have been made available to Gwynedd health authority to enable a scanner to be provided at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. The Department has no plans to release additional funds to Clwyd health authority for computerised tomography scanning. It is open to the authority, should it so wish, to provide additional facilities.
