To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many people aged up to 16 years have used dental services paid in full or in part by the National Health Service for each year since 1975;

(2) how many people over the age of 21 years have used dental services paid in full or in part by the National Health Service, for each year since 1975;

(3) how many people between the age of 16 and 21 years have used dental facilities paid in full or in part by the National Health Service, for each year since 1975.

I am sorry that the information sought by the hon. Member is not available in precisely the form requested. Figures for the number of courses of treatment in the general and community dental services, by age of patient, in England from 1975 are set out in the tables. Such information for the hospital dental service is not available. Figures are by calendar year up to 1985; thereafter by financial year for the latest year available.
