§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe are aware of the concern of the police service over the increasing frequency of assaults. My right hon. Friend has therefore asked Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary to collect from forces in England and Wales the figures of assaults on police officers and to publish them in his annual report. This will enable the problem to be more accurately assessed.
