To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many Scottish health boards have suspended or diminished cervical cancer screening tests during the current year; and if he will make a statement.

None. The number of cervical smear tests undertaken continues to rise. The provisional total for 1987 is 420,361 compared with 361,626 in 1986, an increase of 16 per cent.
