To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on his Department's proposals to encourage foreign tourists to visit the north-west of England.

Mr. Lee

The British Tourist Authority has, in conjunction with the North West tourist board and the Northern Consortium developed a range of promotional activities to encourage overseas visitors to the north-west of England. These include brochures and videos on holidays in the region, travel guides and sales missions aimed at overseas tour operators and travel agents.
