To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people in 1987(a) visited a general practitioner at least once, (b) had at least one consultation in a National Health Service hospital and (c) were admitted as an in-patient to a National Health Service hospital at least once.

Figures are not available in the form requested. The 1986 general household survey has provided the following figures on the use of health services in Great Britain.

  1. (1) 14 per cent. consulted a NHS general practitioner in the 14 days before interview.
  2. (2) 13 per cent. attended an outpatient or casualty department in a three-month reference period.
  3. (3) 9 per cent. underwent an inpatient stay in a I2-month reference period.
