Mr. Tom Clarke

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a table in theOfficial Report showing for each developing country for each year from 1983 the proportion of export earnings constituted by debt service charges.

The information is contained in the 1987–88 edition of the "World Debt Tables" (volume II) published by the World Bank. A copy is available in the statistical section of the Library.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a table in theOfficial Reportshowing the percentage of all non-oil developing country debt, for each year from 1973 to 1987, at variable interest rates.

The percentage of public and publicly guaranteed long-term debt outstanding and disbursed at

"Economic Trends", April 1988, page 6. (The average estimate at 1980 prices is the preferred measure for calculating growth rates.) Annual figures for the United Kingdom and all the member countries of the ERM, are given in the "OECD National Accounts." volume 1.
