HL Deb 06 June 1988 vol 497 c1224WA
Lord Monkswell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will publish the text of their statements made to the press on 6th March 1988 in connection with the incident in Gibraltar that day.

Lord Glenarthur

The first government statement made on the shooting in Gibraltar on 6th March was that made by my right honourable and learned friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in another place on 7th March. No statement was made on 6th March. Both Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Ministry of Defence press departments confirmed in answer to questions from the media that an incident involving military personnel had taken place in Gibraltar but declined to offer any details.
