To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will make it his policy to use National Health Service facilities for the medical examination and treatment of service personnel in the United Kingdom; and if he will include in theOfficial Report a table showing for each hospital or other medical establishment in each service the number of officers and other ranks by grade needed to manage, operate and service them, the total cost including all administrative overheads, pension provision and so on, the throughput in terms of the number of hospital bed-nights and out-patients treated, and any other measure of productivity used in the National Health Service.

No. Service men will continue to be treated in service hospitals as part of the hospitals staff training for their war role. I refer the hon. Member to the information given in the "Statement on the Defence Estimate 1988 (2)" sections 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3.
