To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what guidance or advice he has given to the Royal Ulster Constabulary regarding the re-routing, banning, or imposition of conditions on marches or meetings in Northern Ireland; and what representations he has received from organisations and individuals about the operation of the Public Order (Northern Ireland) Order.

[holding answer 28 July 1988]: The control of marches and public meetings in Northern Ireland is an operational matter for the Chief Constable of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. Since the Public Order (Northern Ireland) Order 1987 came into force in April 1987, records show that one letter has been received about possible changes to the legislation.
