Mr. Morley

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what steps have been taken to survey the wildlife of the Finn-Lacky catchment; if he will list the sites within the Finn-Lacky catchment that qualify for notification as areas of special scientific interest by virtue of their flora, fauna or physiological interest; and, in the event of an arterial drainage scheme for the catchment, if he will prepare an environmental statement under EC directive 85/337;

(2) if he will make a statement on the scheme for the drainage of the Finn-Lacky catchment; if he will estimate the number of hectares of agricultural land whose drainage will be improved as a result of such a scheme; if he will list the sources from which he anticipates the cost of the scheme will be met; and if he will state the estimated cost of the scheme and the financial benefit he expects to accrue as a result of public investment in it.

Mr. Viggers

I will write to the hon. Member.
