To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is now the total number of council houses which have been sold under the right to buy provisions of the Housing Act 1980 to sitting tenants; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 28 July 1988]: 709,000 dwellings in England have been sold by local authorities and new towns under the right-to-buy legislation up to March 1988.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish in theOfficial Report a list of the number of council houses which have been sold under the Housing Act 1980 to sitting tenants of each local authority since 1982.
