HC Deb 28 July 1988 vol 138 c434W
Mr. Bowis

To ask the Minister for the Arts what information he has on the amount of sponsorship of the arts provided by(a) private sector firms, (b) public sector organisations other than local authorities, (c) local authorities, (d) trade unions and (e) private individuals.

Mr. Luce

Private sector firms currently contribute some £30 million annually by way of sponsorship. The most recent figure available for local authority spending on arts, museums and galleries is £202.2 million, in 1983–84. Information is not held centrally on sponsorship by public sector organisations (other than local authorities); by trades unions; or by private individuals.
