Mr. Atkins

[holding answer 27 July 1988]: I am aware of no such representations. The industry operates a code of practice on the installation of satellite dishes, and I see no need to introduce a licensing system.

It is a criminal offence to supply goods which do not comply with the general safety requirement imposed by the Consumer Protection Act 1987, and where a defective dish or faulty installation gives rise to damage or injury there may be grounds for a claim for damages for negligence or for breach of contract.
