HC Deb 28 July 1988 vol 138 cc556-7W
9. Ms. Armstrong

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he now expects to publish a Bill on fair employment in Northern Ireland.

40. Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when it is the Government's intention to publish the Bill on religious equality of opportunity in employment in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Viggers

The preparation of the legislation is well in hand, and a Bill will be introduced at the earliest possible opportunity.

15. Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish the representations he has received from employers in Northern Ireland following the publication of the fair employment White Paper.

17. Mr. Duffy

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what changes will be made in the proposals contained in the fair employment White Paper following the representations received since its publication.

Mr. Viggers

The broad framework of policy and proposals for legislation is set out in the White Paper. The Government will give careful consideration to representations which are received, but I cannot anticipate the detailed provisions of the Bill.

The question of the publication of such representations is a matter for those who submitted them.

33. Mrs. Fyfe

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what representations he has received from employers in Northern Ireland following publication of the fair employment White Paper.

Mr. Viggers

Representations have been received from the Northern Ireland chamber of commerce and industry, the Engineering Employers' Federation and the Federation of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors.
