§ Dr. MawhinneyIn 1987–88, £37–24 million was provided to community groups through the action for community employment scheme, the community volunteering scheme and the youth training programme. In addition, £9.78 million was paid in grants to the health and social services boards and district councils to support community services and voluntary groups.
