Mr. Darling

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the average time between the arrival of an application for British citizenship at Lunar house, Croydon, and its being opened.

Mr. Renton

Applications for citizenship are currently being opened within three working days of receipt. On 25 July there were 90 packages containing applications for citizenship waiting to be opened which had been received since 22 July.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the average time taken to deal with applications for British citizenship made to his Department.
