Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will place in the Library a map showing those roads planned or projected in or adjacent to the area of the London Docklands Development Corporation that are(a) to be built and owned by the corporation and (b) to be constructed and owned by a local authority or the Department of Transport; and if he will make a statement on the arrangements he expects to make for those in category (a) in respect of their servicing and maintenance.

A plan showing LDDCs road proposals will be placed in the Library shortly. The corporation will service and maintain its own roads, until such time as they may be adopted by an appropriate highway authority. Roads constructed by the Department of Transport and the local highway authorities are matters for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport, and for the relevant local authorities, respectively.
