Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will publish in theOfficial Report, a table showing for 1987–88 and his forecast for 1988–89 of (a) the total cost of benefits paid to unemployed people and (b) the total expenditure from the redundancy fund.

The information requested is set out in the "Government's Expenditure Plans 1988–89 to 1990–91", volume II, a copy of which is in the Library. The figures for(a) are in table 15.8 on page 267, and for (b) in table 7.26 on page 115.
