§ Mr. Michael Forsyth[holding answer 22 July 1988]: The value of students' maintenance allowances and tuition fees paid under the students allowances scheme and the postgraduate students allowances scheme, in cash terms, and in real terms on a constant 1987–88 base (1988–89 figures are not yet available) was as follows:
