HC Deb 25 July 1988 vol 138 c116W
Mr. Tom Clarke

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will meet the principal of Glasgow university to discuss the effect of the poll tax on Scottish students.

Mr. Lang

My right hon. and learned Friend has at present no plans to do so.

Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will ask the Scottish agricultural wages board to take full account of the effects of the abolition of domestic rates and the introduction of the poll tax on employees living in tied housing in determining wage levels from 1 April 1989.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

I understand that the board—which is an autonomous body not subject to ministerial direction—already has under consideration the possible implications for the remuneration of agricultural workers of the introduction of the community charge.
