§ Mr. Alton
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the breakdown of housing stock by percentage and type in Northern Ireland.

[holding answer 21 July 1988]: Details of housing stock by tenure type are given in table 1.2B of "Housing Statistics 87" published by the Department of the Environment (Northern Ireland), a copy of which is available in the Library.

[holding answer 21 July 1988]: The information is not available in the form requested. From reports of the Northern Ireland census 1981 there were 742,719 persons living in owner-occupied acommodation. This represents approximately 50 per cent. of the usually resident population as enumerated in the 1981 census.
