§ Mr. MoynihanI do not propose at present to seek an increase in the penalties for the illegal taking of birds of prey from the wild. I have no specific information on the prices which falcons, hawks and eagles may command abroad.
§ Mr. HinchliffeTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he is taking to reduce and prevent the theft of British birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon and goshawk, for the purposes of sale to falconers both in Britain and abroad.
§ Mr. MoynihanSection 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 makes it an offence for any person to take a wild bird, unless he has a defence under any other provision of the Act. The enforcement of section 1 is a matter for the police.
