To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what recommendations for research into alter-native energy sources he is currently considering; and if he will make a statement.

Energy paper No. 55 "Renewable Energy in the United Kingdom: The Way Forward", which I announced in the House on 20 June, outlines our plans for the renewable energy development programme to the year 2000.
