HC Deb 21 July 1988 vol 137 c762W
Mr. Winnick

To ask the Lord President of the Council if, pursuant to his answer of 18 July, he will set out in full the approved procedures followed to remedy the situation and prevent further contravention of the rules regarding the use of the facilities of the House by an hon. Member for the stocking and sale of wines from South Africa.

Mr. Wakeham

Under the rules governing use of House of Commons stationery, the approved procedures invoked in such cases require financial reimbursement by the individual concerned of the cost of the stationery and any post-paid envelopes used, together with a written undertaking to respect the rules in future. There are no rules governing commercial transactions or storage of items in Members' rooms. These are matters for the individual concerned.
