HC Deb 21 July 1988 vol 137 c751W
31. Mr. Skinner

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any physically, sensory or mentally impaired people are being held in remand centres; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

On 30 March 1988, the most recent date for which information is available, one prisoner suffering from mental impairment considered by a medical officer to meet the criteria for detention in hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983 was being held in a remand centre.

Information about numbers of physically or sensorily impaired prisoners is not collected centrally.
