§ Mr. SquireTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give revised cash limits for 1988–89 resulting from the carry forward of capital underspends allowed under the end-year flexibility scheme for central Government and for local authority expenditure.
§ Mr. MajorA list of revised cash limits totalling £567.740 million is shown in the following table. The increases in cash limits on central Government votes are subject to parliamentary approval for the necessary Supplementary Estimates.
The total increase classified as public expenditure is £574.062 million. This sum will be met from the reserve and will therefore not add to the planned total of public expenditure.
