§ 16. Mr. WareingTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what remuneration is paid to senior members of the Sports Council; and what changes in their duties he expects to follow from the reduction in the membership of the council.
§ Mr. MoynihanThe chairman is paid £15,392 per annum and the vice-chairmen £11,595 per annum and £9,276 per annum respectively. The duties of the paid appointments to the council remain unchanged but it is for674W the council to determine how it organises the structure and management of its business in the light of the reduction in the membership of the council.
§ 54. Mr. DunnachieTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he next plans to meet the chairman of the Sports Council; and if he will raise with him his policy on how the council is to organise its structure and its business with a reduced membership.
§ Mr. MoynihanI will be meeting the chairman of the Sports Council on 28 July to discuss the council's draft corporate plan for 1989–90. It is for the council to determine how it organises the structure and management of the business in the light of the reduction in the membership of the council.
§ 84. Mr. IngramTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what financial savings are envisaged from his proposed changes in the Sports Council structure.
§ Mr. MoynihanI announced on 1 July my proposal to reduce the membership of the Sports Council to less than half its present size. This change will make the council more efficient and effective, but it will not affect the level of the Sports Council's grant-in-aid.
