§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales when he next intends to announce the designation of an area either as a Ramsar site under the Convention of Wetlands of International Importance or as a Special Protection Area under the European Community's directive on the conservation of wild birds, or both.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsThe Secretary of State for the Environment designates Ramsar sites and special protection areas in Wales in consultation with my right hon. Friend. I understand that a number of sites in Wales have been proposed and announcements will be made in due course.
