HC Deb 19 July 1988 vol 137 cc593-4W
Mr. Cran

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what recommendations he has received from the chief medical officer in the light of the report commissioned by East Yorkshire health authority on the incidence of childhood cancer on north Humberside; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

This detailed report has been referred for expert advice before the chief medical officer makes any recommendations to Ministers. In the meantime, I note that the authors record a higher than expected, but small, number of tumours of the central nervous system, but not of leukaemia, which appear to be geographically based. They recommend further studies.
