HC Deb 18 July 1988 vol 137 cc446-7W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what monitoring of the provision of services for mentally handicapped people is taking place in Wales in line with Her Majesty's Government's response to the second report of the Social Services Committee of Session 1984–85.

Mr. Grist

In addition to those arrangements for monitoring in Wales outlined in my reply to the hon. Gentleman on 14 July 1988, the Department maintains regular contact with county joint planning teams, and its social work services division is empowered to examine all aspects of personal social services provision for people with a mental handicap in private, voluntary and public sectors.
